We believe that the people who are fortunate enough to succeed have a responsibility to lift others up.
how it started
It began with a simple question.
DFAB was founded by a group of financial and business professionals across Durham Region who wanted their success to mean something beyond their own balance sheets. Many of us spend our careers helping families build and protect wealth. We started asking a different question: what could we do for the families who don’t have that kind of support?
That question turned into action, first as a handful of professionals pooling resources for a single cause, and now as a growing network of partners, sponsors, and volunteers working toward something bigger than any one of us could do alone.
How we operate
We stay close to the cause.
We could write a cheque and call it done. Instead, we choose to stay close to the cause, showing up at events, building relationships with the organizations we support, and making sure our community understands exactly where its generosity goes.
Direct involvement
We fund and champion programs hands-on, from charity golf to hockey gear for kids who need it.
Awareness & advocacy
We shine a light on grassroots organizations that deserve more support and attention.
Education & access
We help the community understand how to give effectively, from securities donations to legacy planning.
The cause we chose
A small cost can change everything.
We didn’t set out to be a “sports” organization. We set out to find places where a relatively modest amount of money could change the entire trajectory of a kid’s year, or their life. Sport kept coming up. A pair of skates, a season’s registration fee, a set of clubs, these are the kinds of costs that quietly keep capable, deserving kids on the sidelines.
That’s a problem we’re well-positioned to solve. So that’s the one we picked.

Hockey Fore All was our first step into this work, and it remains our flagship partnership. Golf Fore All is the next chapter, launching soon.
Hockey Fore All
Hockey is one of Canada's greatest joys, but with equipment and registration costs running into the thousands, it's simply out of reach for many families. Hockey Fore All changes that. In partnership with Whitby Minor Hockey, the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program, and sponsors like Black & McDonald, we cover the full cost of hockey for qualifying Durham Region families, no strings attached.
Golf Fore All
Golf teaches patience, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors, but it's historically been one of the least accessible sports for families on a budget. Golf Fore All is our answer to that, applying the same hands-on, fully-funded model that's worked for Hockey Fore All to a brand new sport.
